Which Crash Crate fits my truck?
Use our Truck Fit Guide — we've documented compatibility for every major truck make, model, and bed configuration. If your truck isn't listed, contact us with your year, make, model, and bed length and we'll confirm before you order.
Does it fit a 5.5 ft bed?
Yes — the Standard (up to 36") and Pro 42" models fit in a 5.5 ft bed. The Pro 48" and Dual models require at least a 6.5 ft bed. Confirm your exact bed length (measure bulkhead to tailgate inside) before ordering.
Can I use it with a tonneau cover?
Most soft and hard folding tonneau covers conflict with the crate height and cannot be used simultaneously. We recommend a truck cap/topper for weather protection — compatible with all Crash Crate models. Contact us if you have a specific cover model to check.
What size crate does my dog need?
Measure your dog: length (nose to base of tail) and height (top of head to floor). Add 4 inches to each measurement. This is your minimum interior crate dimension. Our Fit Guide includes dog-to-crate sizing charts by model.
Can I fit two dogs in one crate?
The Dual model is purpose-built for two dogs. It includes a removable center divider. Single-bay models (Standard and Pro) are not recommended for two dogs — the interior dimensions aren't sufficient for comfort or safety in a crash.
Installation
Getting It In
Does it require drilling or permanent modifications?
No permanent modifications required. The crate uses your truck's factory tie-down cleats via the included mil-spec strap kit. No drilling, no bed rail systems required (though they can be used for additional anchor points).
How long does installation take?
Under 30 minutes on your first attempt with our step-by-step guide. After 2–3 installs, most customers do it in under 10 minutes.
Does it come assembled?
Yes. Every Crash Crate ships fully welded and assembled. The only thing you do is attach the strap kit. No tools required.
My truck only has 2 tie-down cleats. Is that enough?
For maximum crash protection, we strongly recommend 4-point tie-down. If your truck only has 2 factory cleats, we recommend adding 2 after-market anchors. We can recommend compatible products — contact us for your specific truck.

Is it crash tested?
We have completed internal crash testing using real truck bed impact scenarios. Third-party certification with the Center for Pet Safety (CPS) is currently in progress. We will publish full results when available. See our Safety page for more detail.
What is it made of?
1.5" OD welded tubular steel frame, 12-gauge welded steel panels, 316 stainless hardware throughout, matte black powder coat (inside and out). The result is a crate that weighs more than plastic alternatives — because it's built from real materials.
Will it rust?
The powder coat provides strong corrosion protection under normal working conditions. Deep scratches that remove the coating should be treated with touch-up paint to prevent surface rust. We recommend inspecting the exterior finish twice a year in high-moisture environments.
Can a dog break out?
No. The dual butterfly latch plus secondary pin lock system requires deliberate human operation to open. The welded frame and panels have no weak points a dog can exploit. For extreme-anxiety escape artists, the secondary pin lock provides the extra layer needed.

The Easy Part
How long does it take to ship?
3–5 business days fabrication time, then 3–7 days shipping (continental US). Need it faster? Contact us — we maintain some inventory and can sometimes ship next business day.
What's the warranty?
Lifetime structural warranty on the frame and all hardware. Powder coat: 5 years. If anything fails under normal use, we fix it or replace it — no charge, no argument. Dog damage, unauthorized modifications, and neglected maintenance are excluded.
What is the return policy?
30-day fit guarantee. If the crate doesn't fit your truck (confirmed against our fit guide), we cover return shipping and offer a full refund or exchange. Returns for reasons other than fit are subject to a 15% restocking fee; customer covers return shipping.
Do you ship outside the continental US?
Currently we ship to the continental US only. Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada are on the roadmap. Contact us to be notified when your region becomes available.
